Pictures: "Lego Attic" Phase 2
Wanting to maximize the amount of building space, the initial track
layout proved problematic. We wanted to be able to run at least two trains
simultaneously and be able to switch between tracks. Additionally, we
needed space to park additional trains. Since we did not want to
compromise on the number of tracks, our only remaining option was to raise
the tracks. Several raised tracks variations did not prove possible due to
an incline that was too step for most trains. We finally did come up with
a raised track solution which also allowed buildings to be built
underneath. Additionally, in order to save valuable space that the
airport took up, we decided to raise that as well with the tracks going
underneath. As you can tell, this is only phase 2 of the layout:
many buildings and details still have to be added. Click on the
images for more detail! Overview
of most of the layout. The raised airport / spaceport can be seen in the
back.
Commercial
zone. Several buildings will still be added to this part of the layout.
In
the background you can see the beach and the area where the marina will be
built. Also visible on the left is the gas station underneath the train
tracks.
A
car wash will still be built behind the gas station.
SNOT
Wal-Mart lettering (the R isn't that easy!).
Martine thinks that I
should have cleaned this up before taking a picture :-) I
am not entirely happy yet with the stickers here, unlike on the Bob Evans
building.
Bob
Evans! We have actually come to miss this piece of Americana. The interior
includes kitchen, bathroom, and seating area. Some outside details
still need to be added.
